Portfolio Creation: Quiet on the Forest Floor

This post will contain the changes I have made to my website that include the creation of my portfolio for the project for this term.

I headed over to my portfolio page to add a header so it would be clear that the user is on my portfolio page. I did this by clicking 'Add Elements' in the menu on the left, under 'Text' I chose 'Add Heading'. I left the font size on 100 and since I changed my theme settings under 'Change Theme' the font was already correct. I only changed the colour to a green under 'Edit Text' and 'Color'.

On my portfolio page I added a new image by clicking 'Add Elements' on the left and choosing 'Images' and 'Upload Images' I created a border around my image by clicking the 'Design' button after clicking on the image and choosing 'Customize Design'. Here I changed the border width to 2 pixels under 'Border' to match the other image and changed the colour as well. I added another button by copying and pasting the button from my other project and changing the text to match the title of my new project and linking the page to the correct page in the menu that appears after double clicking the button. I created another page in the 'Pages and Menu' section in the menu on the left and clicking 'Add Page' and clicking 'Blank Page' in the top left. I then made this a subpage to the portfolio page by clicking the icon with the three dots and choosing 'Subpage'.

On the 'Quiet on the Forest Floor' subpage I created a gallery by clicking 'Add Elements' and choosing 'Gallery'. In the gallery menu I chose 'Slider Gallery' to add it to my page. I will add the portfolio pages once they are ready. I also added a 'Back to Portfolio' button by copying and pasting the one from the 'Fruity Mood' subpage.

I have added a title and text following the 'Add Elements' and 'Text' process mentioned earlier. The font and colours were correct, as I have edited these elements in the 'Site Theme' section when I created my website. I changed the font size of the title to 40 and the font size of the paragraph to 20 in the 'Edit Text' menu that pops up when you click on the piece of text.

I added my pages to the gallery in the 'Change Images' menu after clicking on the gallery and changed the gallery design to fit the image in the 'Design' menu. I decided to create an open gallery to fill up the page more, as I did not like the single slider from my previous project. Now, people can see the project at a glance.

For the photos that I took I added another gallery with a collage layout, since adding the photos in the already existing gallery made it look inconsistent. The collage layout allowed me to add photos with different sizes and orientations while still looking organised.

On my home page I added another slide to the slider by clicking the element and clicking on 'Manage Slides' and 'Add New Slide' in the menu that popped up. I then changed the image in the 'Change Slide Background' menu and clicking on 'Image' in the menu that popped up on the side. From there on the menu is the same as any other add image menu on wix, here I added my image by uploading it. I copied and pasted the text and button from the other slide and changed the text. I inverted the colours for their normal version and their hover version in the 'Design' menu when you click on each element.

I checked the mobile view for every page that I have changed and it all works, I only had to resize the text on the slider on the homepage.

I am happy with the way my portfolio looks, it reflects the atmosphere of the project in exactly the way I envisioned it. I am glad that I kept the blue-green backgrounds for my design boards, I think it creates a contrast with the designs without distracting too much and fits into the colours of the website.
