Creating a Website: Portfolio Gallery

This post contains the process of creating my portfolio and gallery on my website made with Wix. To the gallery I will add my finalised product design project.

I added an image of my project to the portfolio page, I did this by clicking 'Add Elements' at the menu to the left. I chose image from the options and clicked on 'Upload & Import' and then 'Upload Images', I uploaded my image from my computer and aligned it to the centre of the page using the grid lines.

I added a new page by clicking 'Add Menu Item' at the bottom of the 'Site Pages and Menu' menu in the menu at the left. I clicked 'New Page' after clicking on 'Add Menu Item' and a new page appeared under my already existing pages, I named it after my project. By clicking the three dotted icon I made the page a subpage by choosing 'Subpage' in the dropdown menu.

I added a title to my page by clicking 'Add Elements' in the menu to the left and clicked on 'Text'. From the options I chose 'Heading 2' after which text appeared on my page, I did not change the font size so this is set to 40. I changed the text to my project title and aligned it in the middle using the grid lines. Under the 'Add Elements' section in the menu on the left, I chose 'Gallery' to add a gallery to my page. I chose a landscape orientated slider gallery, since all of my boards are in a landscape orientation.

I added a button to my page by choosing 'Button' in the 'Add Elements' menu. I chose a button design and changed the text in the button to 'Back to Portfolio' in the 'Change Text and Icon' menu after clicking on the button, I chose the link to go to my portfolio page in the menu that pops up when double clicking it. I changed the font to 'Helvetica Light' and changed the colours to the secondary colours of my theme under 'Hover' so that the button will change colour if hovering over it with your mouse. I used the grid lines to align it in the centre.

I copied the button from my project page to paste into my portfolio page so that it would be exactly the same. I only changed the text to the title of my project and the linked page to the project page after double clicking the button. I clicked on 'Preview' in the top right menu to test if the buttons worked.

I added my project to the gallery by double clicking the gallery, deleting all the existing images and adding my own boards by clicking 'Add Images' at the top right. I uploaded all my images and deleted the titles of all the images under 'Title' in the menu on the right. I then clicked 'Preview' in the top right corner to test if the gallery worked and all the boards were there and could expand to their full size.

I checked the mobile view of my website and adjusted the size of the button by clicking on it and using the scaling dots. I realigned the text using the grid lines.

I adjusted the size of the text in my menu to 22 to fit the box, since the 'Portfolio' text did not fit the box anymore with the arrow next to it.
