Creating a Colour Palette

To be able to plan out my designs better, I created a colour palette for my collection. I used the Adobe colour palette creator to create the selection of colours that I can use for my designs. The colours are based off the state flag of Connecticut.

The flag includes yellow, green, purple, blue, red and white. The base of the jewellery will be gold, with the decorations being the remaining colour options. These colours are quite natural and can be found in the majority of the local flora, which will inspire my jewellery collection.

I created small watercolour paintings in combination with wax crayons and native plants as a reference to test the colour palette. Depending on how I use the colours, the feel of the palette changes. The first painting feels more calming, whereas the second painting feels more bold and flashy. I will be using the colours in separately with gold as their base, aiming for a calming feeling.

  1. Maybe some reflection on what the colours mean, some examples (digital or hand made) of experimenting with colour palettes, trying out tonal shifts and unorthodox combinations. Follow up on this post with some experimentation please!

  2. Good to see the colour studies on here - would like to see more experimentation (remember this is YOUR project) in a follow up post as I mentioned in my comment above.
