Artist Research: Lindsey Adelman
Lindsey Adelman creates lamps with interesting shapes while maintaining a minimalist and luxurious style, this post will contain some research on her works.
Made from blown glass and a brushed brass base, the Branching Bubble chandelier has got an interesting shape with a minimalist style. The LED bulbs have a dimming feature. 'Her brilliance comes from her ability to find balance in opposing directions: Each of her pieces offers a push-and-pull between fragile and strong, hand-crafted and machine-made, masculine and feminine, refined and industrial.' (Brunner, 2011). The shapes of the lamp are organic and look delicate, making it a subtle addition to a room while the size of the lamp makes it a statement piece in a room. I like how simple and luxurious it looks, it feels timeless yet very fitting in the present. I have learned that timeless designs require simplicity.
The Cherry Bomb Fringe is one of my favourite designs by Lindsey Adelman, I think it is simply beautiful. The lights are warm and subtle, with the hanging fringes giving an elegant feel to the lamp. It has got a magical atmosphere to it. The lamp is inspired by the cold winter turning into a hopeful spring. It gives off calming emotions, which is what you want a space to feel like in my opinion. 'Its graceful metal arms — punctuated by gold-leaf handblown glass globes — drip with hundreds of slender brass chains that sparkle in the reflected light like sun on ice, or as summer days grow long and languid, like links of Spanish moss tumbling over outstretched boughs.' (Hass, 2016). This piece is art with a function and would look good in any modern home or office even.
The Paradise wall lamp caught my attention, because of its interesting textures in the glass. In my own project I would like to add some textures glass to emphasise the texture of the fruits, since fruits are not smooth in real life. The brass base of this lamp causes the colour of the clear glass to change, giving a different atmosphere with different colours. 'The textured glass, whether encircled with stripes or flaunting pumpkin-like ridges, appears especially delicate when dangling from brass-plated chains.' (Nast, 2021). Most of Lindsey Adelman's works contain brushed brass, which looks elegant. In my material research post I will look into this material more.

This reads a little like an advert for the lamps I think you need to look more in depth at the function and if this the style you are aiming for try to relate this a lot more to your project
